Sabri Çelebi went on the streets with a machete during the Gezi Park Protests in Istanbul in 2013 and attacked protesters. He injured a woman by kicking her and a policeman from his hand. He was caught but released immediately afterwards. He went abroad. The ruling for his release was rejected.

Man sentenced to three years in jail for kicking woman on Istanbul bus 'for wearing shorts'

An Istanbul court sentenced Abdullah Çakıroğlu on Sept. 7 to three years and 10 months in prison for kicking a young woman for wearing "inappropriate clothes" on a public bus.

The Istanbul 40th Court of First Instance said in its ruling the sentence was given on charges of "prohibiting the freedom of belief and opinion," "deliberate injury" and "insult."

A man who kicked a woman for wearing shorts on a public bus in Istanbul on Sept. 12, 2016, will go on trial on March 8, International Women's Day.

The Istanbul court had postponed the trial of Abdullah Çakıroğlu, who was caught on camera kicking the victim Ayşegül Terzi for wearing "inappropriate clothes," as neither Terzi nor Çakıroğlu were present at the third hearing of the case. 

Family minister hints at stricter regulation on violence against women

Istanbul man who attacked woman for wearing shorts released pending trial

A man arrested for kicking a young woman in the face on a public bus for wearing shorts was released pending trial during the first hearing at an Istanbul court on Oct. 26. 

Both the defendant Abdullah Çakıroğlu and the plaintiff Ayşegül Terzi were present at the first hearing of the trial, ahead of which police took intense security measures.
