3.5% Increase in GDP in the Second Quarter of 2019 Compared to 2018
A 3.5% increase in Gross Domestic Product in the second quarter of 2019 compared to the same period a year earlier reported National Statistical Institute (NSI), quoted by BNT.
National statistics estimate that GDP for the second quarter of the year amounts to 29 107 million at current prices. Converted to euro, it amounts to EUR 14 882 million and per capita amounts to EUR 2 128.
Temenuzhka Petkova: Candidates for Belene NPP Will Be Announced on August 19
Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova commented on the state visit to Turkmenistan at the studio of the BNT. The possibility of importing gas from the Caspian state was also discussed in the interview. For the period January-May 2019, Bulgarian exports to the Republic of Korea registered an increase of nearly 25% compared to the same period last year and reached BGN 54.8 million. Bulgarian Minister of Agriculture: 288 Guest Houses Funded with EU Money are Being Inspected
Some 288 guest houses are being inspected, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Desislava Taneva said in reference to the ongoing investigation ordered by Prime Minister Borissov into all guest houses in the country financed with EU funds, Focus News Agency reported. Minister Taneva said the inspections will continue until the end of June.

Pope Francis Arrived on Bulgarian Soil (Updated)
Pope Francis's plane landed at the government's VIP airport at about ten minutes before 10 am, a little earlier than scheduled. On the Bulgarian soil the pope was welcomed by Prime Minister Boyko Borisov. There is a four-eye meeting scheduled between them.
