Slovenia on Monday warned fellow EU member Croatia that failure to implement the Piran ruling will amount to a breach of the EU's rule of law, EurActiv.com reports.

Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec stressed in his address that "we are facing new international actors" and "still struggle to address climate change and its negative global impact".

He called on the participants to not only focus on this, but to dedicate discussions to new realities and "how to use them to make a better future".

Slovenian President Borut Pahor, former head of the center-left Social Democrats and a one-time prime minister, is likely to win a second five-year mandate in an election on Oct. 22, a poll published by the Delo newspaper on Monday showed, Reuters reported.

BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will pay a one-day visit to Slovenia on Saturday to attend a summit of the Brdo-Brijuni Process, hosted by Slovenian and Croatian Presidents Borut Pahor and Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic.

Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic was in Ljubljana, Slovenia on Wednesday for an official visit.

Dacic traveled to Ljubljana at the invitation of Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec, and met with his counterpart, as well as with Slovenian President Borut Pahor, Speaker of the Slovenian Parliament Milan Brglez, and Prime Minister Miro Cerar.

Despite a drop after the EU-imposed sanctions against Russia, the country remains Slovenia's most important non-EU partner in exports. Efforts to further enhance cooperation will be high on the agenda as President Borut Pahor visits Moscow this week.
