On the 13th day of the Paris Olympic Games, Bulgaria celebrated its first gold medal. Semen Novikov clinched the top prize in classical wrestling, competing in the 87 kg category. Novikov triumphed over the world vice-champion, Alireza Azizkhoon Mohmadipiani of Iran, with a decisive 7:0 victory.

Bulgarian Weightlifter Bozhidar Andreev Claims Olympic Bronze Medal

Bozhidar Andreev secured a bronze medal for Bulgaria in the 73 kg weightlifting category at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Andreev finished third with a total lift of 344 kg—154 kg in the snatch and 190 kg in the clean and jerk. The gold medal was claimed by Indonesia's Rizki Juniansyah, who lifted a combined 354 kg, while Thailand's Weeraphon Wichuma took silver.

Vladimir Iliev is the Athlete of the Year

Vladimir Iliev was named the Athlete of the Year for 2019. The biathlete deserves our distinction after winning a silver medal at the Biathlon World Championships in Sweden earlier this year.

Earlier this week, Iliev was also honoured with the Sports Icarus Award.

Hristiyan Stoyanov was named Athlete of the Year with Disabilities.
