Senior officials from Sweden and Turkey arrived at NATO headquarters Thursday to examine Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's objections to the Nordic country joining the military alliance and to see what more, if anything, could be done to break the deadlock.

Türkiye and the United States have agreed to further deepen their cooperation in all domains of mutual interest and intensify dialogue at all levels at a Strategic Mechanism meeting that addressed the former's demand to buy 40 F-16s and Sweden's bid to join NATO.

Senior officials from the Turkish and American foreign ministries were due to convene on June 23 to discuss bilateral ties and international developments within the framework of the Strategic Mechanism.

Senior officials from Türkiye, Syria, Russia and Iran will hold their second meeting to facilitate the normalization process between Ankara and Damascus and discuss a road map on how to proceed to this end.

Greek Defense Minister Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos will visit Türkiye upon the invitation of his Turkish counterpart, Hulusi Akar.

Akar and Panagiotopoulos will visit the quake-hit southern Hatay province on April 4. The two ministers will also have a bilateral meeting.

Greece's Deputy Foreign Minister Konstantinos Fragogiannis and his Turkish counterpart Ambassador Burak Akcapar met in Ankara Wednesday for the fourth round of discussions on the Joint Action Plan within the scope of the Positive Agenda between the two countries, the Foreign Ministry said.

Türkiye and Greece have agreed to further move on the "positive agenda" items in bilateral relations after the fourth round of discussions on the Joint Action Plan.

Turkish, Russian, Iranian, and Syrian deputy foreign ministers will meet in Russia's capital Moscow on March 15-16 for talks on Syria, according to diplomatic sources.

Türkiye will hold a trilateral mechanism meeting with Sweden and Finland on March 9 in Brussels to discuss the commitments of the Nordic countries for their bid to join NATO.

Presidential spokesperson Ambassador İbrahim Kalın and newly appointed Deputy Foreign Minister Burak Akçapar will attend the meeting.

Turkey has appointed 13 ambassadors to foreign posts, according to the Official Gazette early on April 3. 

A decree published with the signature of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Cahit Bağcı was appointed envoy to Azerbaijan.
