The Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has officially unveiled an additional 55 mayoral candidates to compete in eight provinces and 47 districts for the upcoming local elections on March 31.

This latest announcement on Jan. 11 brings the total number of MHP candidates to 110.

The main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) have revealed extensive slates of mayoral candidates in a move ahead of the March 31 local elections.

The CHP's announcement, following a party assembly meeting on Jan. 10, presented mayoral candidates for six pivotal metropolitan cities.

The Istanbul Film Festival's "Turkish Classic Revisited" project will be restoring the 1987 classic "Anayurt Oteli" (Motherland Hotel), adapted by Ömer Kavur from the Yusuf Atılgan novel.

"Motherland Hotel" will be screened in its restored print on its 30th anniversary as part of the 36th Istanbul Film Festival that will take place between April 5 and 16. 

A municipal inspector, who had himself carried by farmers in the Aegean province of Manisa as he was visiting a neighborhood to determine damage caused by snow, has been suspended, according to a statement released by the municipality.
