Charlie Haden

Jazz lovers in Greece will now have their own annual music celebration. It will take place at the Petra Theater in Petroupoli on September 13, 14, and 15, hosting the Jazzét Festival – 1st Hellenic International Jazz Festival.

The BYS Trio, a jazz tribute band created by Greek double bass player Chrysostomos Boukalis in honor of the late Charlie Haden, will perform as part of the Jazzoo series of events at The Zoo in the northern Athens suburb of Halandri on January 16 and 17. The band plays compositions by Haden as well as others that featured in the American bandleader's repertoire.

Greece's BYS Trio - Chrysostomos Boukalis on double bass, Kostas Yazoglou on piano and Nikos Sidirokastritis on drums - takes the stage at the Half Note jazz club with a tribute to Charlie Haden (1937-2014), an American jazz double bass player, bandleader, composer and educator whose career spanned more than 50 years. Their program will also include other composers whose work inspired Haden.

BELGRADE - The US rock band Spain will present their latest release "Sargent Place" at Belgrade's Dom Omladine cultural centre on Friday, their first ever concert in Serbia's capital.

The group is led by Josh Haden, son of recently deceased Charlie Haden, legendary jazz bassist.
