Costis Hatzidakis Attends Eurogroup and ECOFIN Meetings: Key Topics on Eurozone Competitiveness, Digital Euro, and Climate Finance

Greek Minister of National Economy and Finance, Costis Hatzidakis, will travel to Luxembourg today to participate in the Eurogroup and ECOFIN meetings.

On Monday, 7 October, the Eurogroup will meet to discuss the competitiveness of the eurozone, the European Capital Markets Union, the digital euro, and preparations for the eurozone summit scheduled for 18 October.

Resigned transport minister to appear before parliamentary panel on Tempe disaster

Greece, Cyprus and Israel sign EastMed deal

Greece, Israel and Cyprus have signed a deal for an undersea pipeline designed to carry gas from offshore deposits in the southeastern Mediterranean to continental Europe.
The deal was signed during a ceremony at Zappeion Hall by the three countries' energy ministers, Costis Hatzidakis, Yiorgos Lakkotrypis and Yuval Steinitz.

Worker killed in explosion at Larco plant

A 55-year-old worker has been fatally injured after an explosion on Wednesday at the plant of nickel producer Larco in Fthiotida, central Greece, local media report.
His death was confirmed by the president of the metal workers' union in Fthiotida, Panagiotis Politis. Politis added that the body of the victim had not yet been recovered.

Electricity network 'stretched to its limits,' minister says

In comments to Skai on Friday, Energy Minister Costis Hatzidakis said he could not rule out the possibility of power cuts as the country's electricity network "is stretched to its limits."

Efforts are being made to ensure that the network operates as smoothly as possible, he said. noting however that extended neglect has taken its toll.
