Ljubljana – Foreign Minister Anže Logar will pay a visit to Israel on Monday to meet his Israeli counterpart Yair Lapid. On Tuesday he will be in Palestine to meet Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki and Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh.

Logar promises Austria full transparency about nuclear plans
Ljubljana – Foreign Minister Anže Logar assured his Austrian counterpart Alexander Schallenberg on Friday that Slovenia would be completely transparent about its plans to build a second unit at the Krško nuclear power station, in particular when it comes to environmental impact assessment.
FM says Slovenia ready to accept additional Afghan collaborators
Ljubljana/Brussels – Slovenia is ready to accept up to five members of the Afghan staff that collaborated with the EU to show solidarity with other EU member states, Foreign Minister Anže Logar said on Wednesday. For the time being, Slovenia will not offer taking in additional refugees from Afghanistan.
Education minister tests positive for coronavirus
Ljubljana – Education Minister Simona Kustec has tested positive for coronavirus. She announced on Twitter she was isolating since Saturday, but added that all activities for the safe start of the school year continued.
The minister received the first shot of the AstraZeneca vaccine on 23 March and appears to have been fully vaccinated.

Youth Strategic Forum debates development of Slovenia and EU
Maribor – A debate on future development of Slovenia and the EU as part of the Youth Strategic Forum in Maribor on Saturday heard Defence Minister and coalition New Slovenia (NSi) president Matej Tonin noting that it was right that young people were interested in the future, as it depended on them.
Germany, UK Reaffirm Commitment to Western Balkans
During their meeting in Berlin, British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab and German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas signed a joint declaration in which, among other things, they reaffirmed their countries' commitment to the security, stability, prosperity, and full sovereignty of the six Western Balkans countries, as well as to their European and Euro-Atlantic paths.

Portuguese FM confident Slovenian presidency can make breakthrough in N Macedonia, Albania EU accession
Ljubljana, 24 June – Portugal will hand to Slovenia as the next EU presiding country many dossiers, including the endorsement of national recovery and resilience plans and EU enlargement to the Western Balkans, Portuguese Foreign Minister Augusto Santos Silva said after meeting his counterpart Anže Logar in Ljubljana on Thursday.

Ljubljana – Foreign Minister Anže Logar and his Serbian counterpart Nikola Selaković agreed on a mutual recognition of vaccination certificates as they held talks on Tuesday that focused on bilateral relations and Slovenia’s forthcoming presidency of the Council of the EU.
Slovenia condemns forcible jet landing in Belarus
Ljubljana – Senior Slovenian officials have condemned actions by Belarus after a Rynair flight was forced to land in Minsk. Prime Minister Janez Janša voiced support for sanctions, while President Borut Pahor and the Foreign Ministry called for an independent investigation.
