POP TV poll shows support for SDS rising, Pahor’s ratings fall
Ljubljana – The ruling Democratic Party (SDS) has recorded a rise in its support ratings of almost four percentage points compared to September, while President Borut Pahor’s popularity has comprehensively declined, shows the latest poll commissioned by the commercial broadcaster POP TV.
Debate calls for boosting EU’s global position
Ljubljana – A round table debate hosted by the National Assembly on Wednesday discussed the future of Europe and the role of the EU in the multipolar international environment, in particular ways to enhance the bloc’s geostrategic position through foreign and security policy action. Foreign Minister Anže Logar said a credible and safe EU was called for.

Logar vows Slovenia’s support for Bosnia’s EU accession efforts
Ljubljana – Foreign Minister Anže Logar assured his Bosnian counterpart Bisera Turković on Tuesday of Slovenia’s support for Bosnia-Herzegovina’s EU accession process, including when it comes to reforms the country needs to adopt to join the bloc. Turković said her country was ready for EU candidate status.
POP TV poll shows NSi losing most ground among parties
Ljubljana – Most parliamentary parties have lost ground in the latest poll commissioned by the commercial broadcaster POP TV as the ruling Democratic Party (SDS) posted its worst showing this year and its coalition partner New Slovenia (NSi) slipped back the most.
Zorčič calls for clarity in EU enlargement to W Balkans
Brdo pri Kranju – Parliamentary Speaker Igor Zorčič hosted a meeting of parliamentary speakers from the Western Balkans on Monday, saying that the EU must give the region a clear signal on when it could expect EU accession. The speakers of the Serbian and Montenegrin parliaments also called for more clarity regarding the EU enlargement.

Pahor meets Erdogan on sidelines of UN General Assembly
New York, 22 September – President Borut Pahor, who is in New York for the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, held several bilateral meetings on Tuesday, including with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to discuss cooperation, Afghanistan and migrations. He also attended an event marking 30 years of Slovenia’s independence.

New York – Slovenian Foreign Minister Anže Logar urged his EU peers to stick with the agreement the ministers reached an an informal meeting in Slovenia in September regarding Afghanistan, as EU foreign ministers held a meeting on the margins of the UN General Assembly on Monday.

Ljubljana – Foreign Minister Anže Logar paid tribute to the victims of the 11 September terrorist attacks on Saturday alongside Susan Falatko, the charge d’affaires at the US Embassy in Ljubljana, as he affirmed Slovenia’s commitment to the prevention of terrorism and radicalisation.
