New York – Slovenian Foreign Minister Anže Logar urged his EU peers to stick with the agreement the ministers reached an an informal meeting in Slovenia in September regarding Afghanistan, as EU foreign ministers held a meeting on the margins of the UN General Assembly on Monday.
He said the framework agreed at September’s Gymnich meeting should be implemented and the EU should pursue a single, coordinated approach to the management of migrations and the provision of humanitarian aid, the Foreign Ministry said.
At the session in Slovenia in early September, EU foreign ministers determined five benchmarks for the bloc’s cooperation with the Taliban in Afghanistan.
Logar also held talks with his counterparts from Kosovo and Libya, Donika Gervalla-Schwarz and Najla El Mangoush. Bilateral ties, in particular the prospects of better economic cooperation, topped the agenda.
A meeting with the representatives of the American Jewish Committee featured an exchange of opinions on the Middle East peace process and the strengthening of Slovenia’s relations with the US and Israel, the Foreign Ministry said.
