New rectors appointed to six universities
A decree has appointed new rectors to six universities, according to a decision published in the country's Official Gazette on Sept. 21, signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Eyüp Debik has been named the rector of Yıldız Technical University (YTÜ), while Ahmet Alkan Çelik takes the helm at Doğuş University.

VP launches plan to combat gambling, digital addiction
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz has announced the launch of an action plan to combat gambling and digital addiction in schools.
The initiative will address addiction to gambling, the internet, smartphones and video games, Yılmaz said during a meeting of a board convened under the Health Ministry on Sept. 10.

The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) is set to introduce age restrictions on news bulletins, RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin has announced.
Speaking at Sakarya University, Şahin explained, "We will put signs indicating age limits on news bulletins. For example, those under the age of 13 or 18 should not watch certain segments or 'This content contains violence.'"

Probe launched into academic over offending remarks on universities
Prosecutors in Istanbul have launched a probe into Professor Ebubekir Sofuoğlu after his remarks labelling the country's universities as "brothels" caused public outrage.
Earlier this week, Sofuoğlu from Sakarya University's History Department, on a TV show criticized Generation Z and dismissed the view that universities contribute to the cities where they are located.
