Another Powerful Earthquake with Different Epicenter Rocks Greece

A new earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale shook central Greece at 20:38 on Thursday.

The epicenter was near the town of Elassona, which was hit on Wednesday by an earthquake measuring 6.0.

The National Observatory of Athens' Institute of Geodynamics reported that the new quake's epicenter was 16km southwest from Elassona proper, close to Larissa.

4.0-magnitude earthquake near Athens is aftershock, expert says

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.0 has struck not far from Athens and seismologists say it was an aftershock from a stronger quake last month.
The Euro-Mediterranean Institute said Tuesday's earthquake happened at shortly before 9.30 a.m. and was centered 6 kilometers north of Magoula. The depth was estimated at 2 kilometers.
There have been no reports of damage.

Too early to say if Itea tremor was mainshock

Central Greece was struck by a magnitude 5.3 earthquake at noon on Saturday.
The Athens Geodynamic Institute said the moderate tremor occurred at 12.46 p.m. about 132 kilometers northwest of Athens, near the seaside town of Itea, at a depth of 13.7 kilometers.
Seismologists were not sure if the quake, which was felt in Athens, was the mainshock or a precursor.

5.4-magnitude tremor strikes off Zakynthos

A 5.4-magnitude earthquake hit 49 kilometers southwest of the Ionian island of Zakynthos on Tuesday afternoon, according to a preliminary reading of the Athens Geodynamic Institute.

The focal depth is estimated at 10 kilometers. The tremor was felt as far as Athens, but no injuries or damages were immediately reported.
