Eleftheria Arvanitaki

Prolific composer Stamatis Spanoudakis, who has recorded more than 60 albums over his career to date, will be sharing the stage of the Herod Atticus Theater with a string orchestra and choir on Tuesday, October 1, in a charity concert from which the proceeds will go the children's institutions of the Orthodox Metropolitanate of Singapore and South Asia.

Singer-songwriter Lavrentis Machairitsas has died aged 63, apparently of heart failure. 

Machairitsas, who had been vacationing at his summer home in the area of Ptelos, Magnisia, was transferred to Volos hospital early on Monday morning and passed away at 6.30 a.m., 

Thousands attended a charity concert at the capital's Panathenaic Stadium (Kallimarmaro) on Wednesday night featuring several A-list Greek singers and musicians including Eleftheria Arvanitaki, Glykeria, Giorgos Dalaras and Eleonora Zouganeli in a tribute to rebetiko master Vassilis Tsitsanis.

Skai TV's charity campaign Oloi Mazi Boroume ("Together We Can") will be presenting the benefit concert "Play Ttsitanis" at the Panathenaic Stadium on Tuesday, July 4, with all proceeds going toward vulnerable social groups. The concert is dedicated to Greek musician Vassilis Tsitsanis, one of the founders of the laiko and rebetiko genres.

Acclaimed singer Eleftheria Arvanitaki will be performing a career-spanning set at Thessaloniki's Dasos Theater on Wednesday, June 6, as part of the annual summer festival organized by the State Theater of Northern Greece. The concert starts at 9.15 p.m. and doors open at 8 p.m.

This year, the annual concert held by street magazine Schedia at the Technopolis cultural complex will include more than just singing and dancing. There will also be theatrical performances, workshops and games, for children and adults, as part of a participatory program to get everyone to work closer together.

One of Greece's most acclaimed female vocalists, Eleftheria Arvanitaki, has put together a program titled "Second Life" with songs comprising the works of great Greek poets set to music by esteemed composers. She will be performing at the annual Aeschylus Festival in the town of Elefsina on Monday, August 28. The show starts at 8.30 p.m.

Dozens of Greek artists are coming together to root for a good cause, as the Oloi Mazi Boroume (Together We Can) campaign presents one of this summer's biggest concerts on Wednesday, July 12.

The 8th Aegina Fistiki Fest will take place on the 15th to the 18th of September.

Free from the constraints of public office, former speaker of the Greek Parliament Zoe Konstantopoulou went out on a limb and enjoyed the spirit of the holiday season with a night out on the town. Saturday, December 19, she was carried away with the music of singers Eleftheria Arvanitaki and Nikos Portokaloglou.
