BELGRADE - At the invitation of Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff Gen Milan Mojsilovic, Bulgarian Chief of Defence Adm Emil Eftimov is on an official visit to Serbia.

The government approved the composition of the Bulgarian delegation for the NATO Summit on July 11-12 in Vilnius. The delegation led by Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov includes Minister of Defense Todor Tagarev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tihomir Stoychev and Chief of Defense Admiral Emil Eftimov.

"Our government will continue to provide valuable practical support to Ukraine as long as it is needed." This was stated by Bulgarian Defense Minister Todor Tagarev during the meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission yesterday, June 15. According to him, NATO should go beyond the Bucharest decisions and promote relations with Ukraine at a higher strategic level.

"The Defensive Shield - 23 exercise achieved its goals - assembling a multinational battalion and its operation in an international environment," said Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov today, May 29, during the day for the demonstration of capabilities by the exercise participants. The Minister of Defense assessed the performance of the Bulgarian servicemen as very good.

American soldiers will be deployed in Bulgaria as part of NATO's plans for deterrence and the defense of the eastern flank. This was reported by the Twitter account of the US mission to NATO.

The announcement does not make it clear what part of the 2,400 soldiers from the US 101st Airborne Division will remain in Bulgaria. The rest will be located in Romania, Hungary and Slovakia.
