The implementation of joint tasks on enhanced airspace protection (Air Policing) by the Bulgarian and Spanish Air Forces begins with an official ceremony on Thursday. This was announced by the press center of the Ministry of Defense.

The Chief of Defense, Admiral Emil Eftimov, called for a broad political consensus on projects to modernize the Bulgarian army. It currently "does not correspond to the pace of armament and rearmament of neighboring countries," said Admiral Eftimov in a special interview with BNR.

Against the background of the lack of parliament adm. Eftimov warned:

 Addressing the NATO Military Committee in Chiefs of Defence Session in Athens on Saturday, Bulgaria's Chief of Defence, Admiral Emil Eftimov, said security is key to the development of the Western Balkans. "The stability of the Western Balkans is of exceptional importance to Bulgaria as well as to NATO and the European Union.

Minister of National Defense Nicolae Ciuca and Chief of Romania's Defense Staff, Lieutenant General Daniel Petrescu, met today at the Ministry's headquarters with Bulgarian Chief of Defense, Admiral Emil Eftim, who is on a visit to Romania until Thursday, the Defense Ministry said in a release.

Bulgaria's Chief of Defence Emil Eftimov will pay an official visit to Romania, July 6-7, at the invitation of his Romanian counterpart Daniel Petrescu.

The military pilot Valentin Terziev, who died during exercise with his MiG-29 fighter, was posthumously promoted to the rank of "lieutenant colonel", Ministry of Defense announced.

By order of the Minister. Terziev was awarded the Order of St. George First Degree for officers.

"Biological material was found and sent for DNA analysis. The search for the black box (flight data recorder)continues. Debris of the MiG-29 fighter jet that crashed near Shabla has already been found, an investigation has found."

Chief of Defense Admiral Emil Eftimov will participate in the solemn ceremony dedicated to sending off the 42nd  Bulgarian military contingent designated to participate in train, advise and assist Resolute Support NATO mission in Afghanistan. The ceremony will take place in Vasil Levski Square in Karlovo starting at 3:30 p.m.

Two military pilots will join the second and third groups that are earmarked to go to the US to be trained to pilot F-16 fighter jets, said Deputy Defense Minister Atanas Zapryanov at the sitting of the parliamentary defense committee.

The most extensive teaching of Land Forces in Bulgaria in 2018 is held in Novo Selo. Today is the official, so-called VIP day. 700 soldiers from Bulgaria, the United States, and six other NATO member states and 100 combat teams demonstrate their capabilities at the joint Bulgarian-American Polygon. The aim is to increase interoperability among Allies in peacekeeping operations.
