Police bust international drug ring led by 'Turkish Escobar'

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has announced the detention of 42 suspects linked to notorious drug dealer Ürfi Çetinkaya, widely known as the "Turkish Escobar."

The operation, which spanned nine provinces, was a result of a two-year joint effort against the armed organized crime group, Yerlikaya said in an X post on Feb. 20.

He also said that the only question is whether Kosovo wants to wait for Euro-Atlantic integration until Prime Minister Albin Kurti fulfills his obligation. Escobar emphasized that "Kosovo must now move as a matter of urgency", and indicated that the establishment of the CSM is an international, legal, undertaken obligation.

Lajcak and Escobar today in Pristina

As stated in the announcement of the Prime Minister's Office, Kurti's meeting with Lajcak and Escobar will take place in the Kosovo Government building.
European Union Spokesman Peter Stano said that Lajcak and Escobar will be in Kosovo and Serbia on Monday and Tuesday, in order to engage in the de-escalation of tensions in the north of Kosovo.

Escobar gets fired?

On February 27 in Brussels and on March 18 in Ohrid, Escobar mediated an agreement on the road to the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, but he did not foresee the escalation of the situation in the three municipalities in the north of the so-called Kosovo, writes "Albanian Post", adding that it could have personal consequences for him.
