President Iohannis pleads for stronger, more active involvement of EU in solving conflicts in its neighborhood

President Klaus Iohannis welcomed on Wednesday, at Cotroceni Presidential Palace, the President of the French Senate, Gerard Larcher, the discussions focusing on the security agenda, the strengthening of bilateral cooperation, including from a parliamentary perspective, the European agenda and international issues.

Senate hosts first Parliamentary Summit of Bucharest Format (B9) April 17-19

Romanian Senate on Tuesday will open for three days, April 17-19, the first Parliamentary Summit of the Bucharest Format (B9).

The event was co-organized by the Romanian Senate Speaker, Calin Popescu-Tariceanu, together with the Marshal of the Senate of the Polish Republic, Stanislaw Karczewski.

Larcher: France knows how significant Serbia is

PARIS - France knows how significant Serbia's role in the Western Balkans is, and that is why it is strongly advocating Serbia's soonest possible EU accession, French Senate President Gerard Larcher told Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic Thursday.

The meeting with Larcher was the start of Vucic's political discussions as part of a three-day visit to France.

Vucic begins visit to France

PARIS - Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic on Wednesday arrived in Paris, where he was welcomed by French State Secretary for European Affairs Harlem Desir outside the Les Invalides memorial complex.

After the welcoming ceremony, Vucic visited Napoleon's grave and laid a wreath at a plaque commemorating Serbian soldiers who fought as French allies in in the two Great Wars.

President Klaus Iohannis is paying an official visit to France on Tuesday, where he'll meet his counterpart, Francois Hollande, the Senate Chairman, Gerard Larcher, the President of the National Assembly, Claude Bartolone and representatives of the Romanian community in France.
