A report submitted by Citizen Protection Minister Giannis Oikonomou to the Supreme Court prosecutor's office last week details the criminal activities of many well-known soccer hooligans and the connections, at least of some of them, to political extremism on the left and right.

Officers at stadiums to get allowance

The government plans to give an allowance to police officers who are in charge of checks at sports stadiums, as announced by the minister of citizen protection, Giannis Oikonomou, while speaking to Skai Television. 

"Police officers, among other civil servants and officials, will benefit from the increases we will have from January," he said.

Mitsotakis and Christodoulides to take part in inaugural Greece-Cyprus High-Level Cooperation Council

After jointly attending the humanitarian conference convened by French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides returned to Athens for the inaugural Greece-Cyprus High-Level Cooperation Council. The Council is scheduled to commence at 12 p.m., with joint press statements to follow.

Greece intensifies security measures in view of Gaza war

Citizen Protection Minister Giannis Oikonomou said on Monday that Greece has intensified security measures for obvious targets due to the ongoing war in Gaza.

Oikonomou said that it is perfectly normal for everyone to be concerned with what is happening after the terrorist attack by Hamas and the war that is being waged in Gaza.
