Kosovo Serbs Protest Arrests of Serbs Suspected of Attacking Journalists

Hundreds of local in Serb-majority nothern Kosovo, led by medical workers, marched from North Mitrovica to Zvecan - where workers from the Trepca mine joined them - in protest against recent arrests of people suspected of attacks against Kosovo journalists, Serbian-language Kosovo media outlet Kossev reported.

Rakic: We informed president of situation on ground

BELGRADE - Srpska lista leader Goran Rakic said on Monday representatives of Kosovo-Metohija Serbs had informed Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic of the situation on the ground and the problems facing Serbs in the province.

They asked Vucic to use his authority to ensure the soonest possible release of two arrested Serb protesters, Rados Petrovic and Dusan Obrenovic.

Rakic, Simic discuss security situation with Wigemark

PRISTINA - Srpska lista leader Goran Rakic and deputy leader Igor Simic met with EULEX chief Lars-Gunnar Wigemark on Tuesday to discuss the security and political situation in Kosovo-Metohija.

The meeting also addressed an urgent withdrawal of special units of the so-called Kosovo Police from the north of Kosovo-Metohija, a Tanjug correspondent reported.

Responding to calls to dismiss a Kosovo Serb government minister, Goran Rakic, head of the Belgrade-backed Srpska Lista party, after his controversial statements, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti on Thursday said sacking him would not help anything.

"The issue is not Rakic. Dismissal would turn him into an issue," Kurti said on Thursday, ahead of municipal elections due on Sunday.

On Friday, Erden Atiq, a local Vetevendosje leader in mainly Serb North Mitrovica, spoke about a potential agreement between the Albanian parties to field a single mayoral candidate for the October 17 local elections.
