Turkish cinema will go to the French capital with a selection of its most powerful titles.

Hosted by Turkey’s Ambassador to Paris Hakkı Akil and supported by the Turkish Culture Ministry, the “Meeting with Turkish Cinema in Paris” festival will open its curtains on Nov. 28.

Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s “Winter Sleep” (Kış Uykusu) that won the Palme d’Or (Golden Palm) for the best film at the 67th Cannes Film Festival will represent Turkey in the foreign film category at the 87th Academy Awards next year.

Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s latest film “Kış Uykusu” (Winter Sleep), which won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival on May 24 and was released in Turkish movie theaters on June 13, drew over 237,000 viewers in its first month, becoming Ceylan’s most-watched film, according to the Turkish Box Office.

Director Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s Palme d’Or Award winning film “Kış Uykusu” (Winter Sleep) made its gala on June 12 at Kanyon Shopping Mall, with the attendence of many renowned figures from the Turkish cinema scene.

Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s latest film, “Kış Uykusu” (Winter Sleep), which won the coveted Palme d’Or prize at the Cannes Film Festival on May 24, will come to movie theaters on June 13.

Starring Haluk Bilginer, Melisa Sözen and Demet Akbağ, the film will be released in 150 halls in 123 movie theaters in 39 cities.
