Türkiye unveils first domestic quantum computer

Türkiye has introduced its first domestically developed quantum computer, the result of 14 years of research by TOBB University of Economics and Technology in Ankara.

The computer was unveiled during a ceremony in the capital on Nov. 21, attended by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Defense Industry Agency head Haluk Görgün and several sector representatives.

Türkiye, Malaysia discuss defense cooperation

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim hosted Haluk Görgün, head of the Turkish Defense Industry Agency, on Friday to explore ways to enhance defense cooperation between Malaysia and Türkiye.

Görgün and Ibrahim engaged in an "in-depth discussion" focused on strengthening their defense ties, as shared by Malaysian Prime Minister in a statement on X.

Defense industry’s exports top $2 billion in five months

The Turkish defense and aviation industry's exports surge 8.6 percent in the January-May period from a year ago to reach $2.21 billion.

The industry's share in the country's overall export revenues was 2.1 percent.

Defense and aviation exports amounted to $876 million in May alone, said Haluk Görgün, the head of the Defense Industries Presidency (SSB).

Turkey’s KAAN fighter jet conducts first flight

Turkey's KAAN, its first national combat aircraft, completed its first flight on Wednesday, part of the country's efforts to upgrade its air force.

NATO member Turkey launched its TF-X project to produce a national combat aircraft in 2016. Turkish aerospace firm TUSAS signed a deal with Britain's BAE Systems worth $125 million in 2017 to develop the next-generation fighter jet.

Turkish defense firms ink $10 billion in deals last year

Turkish defense companies signed agreements worth a total of $10.2 billion abroad last year, Haluk Görgün, the head of the Defense Industry Agency (SSB) has said.

The Turkish defense industry has exported 230 products to 185 countries over the past 10 years, Görgün told a conference organized at the southern province of Antalya.

Major defense firms sign cooperation deal

Two of Türkiye's biggest defense firms, Aselsan and Havelsan, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on business sharing, which includes more efficient use of common resources.

Haluk Görgün, president of Defense Industries, Ahmet Akyol, general manager of Aselsan, and Mehmet Akif Nacar, general manager of Havelsan, attended the signing ceremony on Jan. 23 in Ankara.
