Alec Baldwin's long-awaited trial for involuntary manslaughter over a fatal shooting on the set of Western movie "Rust" will hear opening statements at a New Mexico courthouse on Wednesday.

Prosecutors have received a second expert analysis of the revolver fired in the fatal shooting of a cinematographer by Alec Baldwin on the set of a Western film in New Mexico, as they weigh whether to refile charges against the actor.

A motion to dismiss the involuntary manslaughter case against armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed over the fatal 2021 shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the "Rust" movie set was denied by a New Mexico judge on Aug. 1.
