Human smugglers have started using speed boats for the illegal transportation of migrants trying to reach Europe, the governor of the western Turkish province Çanakkale told state-run Anadolu Agency on March 15.

"Human smugglers always change their tactics. In the face of this, we are also trying to develop our own tactics, pushing our limits," said Hamza Erkal.

At least 14 migrants have died and 27 others have been rescued after a Greece-bound boat capsized off Turkey's Aegean coast, Do?an News Agency has reported.

Six suspects, including a Syrian national, have been arrested over illegal boat journeys for migrant trafficking, after a boat capsized off a western Turkish, killing 12 migrants, the state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

At least 12 migrants have drowned after a boat attempting to reach the Greek island of Lesbos sank in the Aegean Sea inside Turkish territorial waters on Oct. 17, Do?an News Agency reported, noting that 23 others were rescued.
