Inspired by Homer’s myth, the film stars Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche as the mythic figures Odysseus and Penelope reimagined through a modern lens.

The 65th Thessaloniki Film Festival promises to shine with the presence of international stars Juliette Binoche and Ralph Fiennes, who will be honored with the Golden Alexander award. Both actors will present their latest film, "The Return," inspired by Homer's "Odyssey," shot in Greece.

Kefalonia: Is it really Odysseus’ Ithaca? – New documentary on homer’s mythical king
The American newspaper Wall Street Journal addresses this controversy in an article discussing the documentary “Odysseus Returns”.
It focuses on Makis Metaxas’ quest to prove that Odysseus was a real person who was buried on Kefalonia, possibly the Ithaca described by Homer.
Recordings show some ‘mute’ animals communicate vocally
More than 50 animal species previously thought to be mute actually communicate vocally, according to a study published on Oct. 25 which suggested the trait may have evolved in a common ancestor over 400 million years ago.
Troy Museum receives European Museum Academy award
Troy Museum in the northwestern province of Çanakkale has been deemed worthy of the European Museum Academy Special Award.
The Culture and Tourism Ministry said in a statement on Sept. 19 that the museum also received the 2020 European Museum of the Year Special Appreciation Award.

Turkish museums get European awards
Welcoming its visitors at the entrance of the 5,000-year-old Troy Ruins in the northwestern province of Çanakkale, the Troy Museum has been honored with the 2020 European Museum of the Year Special Award given by the European Museum Forum (EMF) under the auspices of the Council of Europe.

This is a map showing where all of the characters originated in Homer’s epic poem The Iliad. I know Greece is small by today’s standards, but it was surprising to me how geographically widespread the hometowns of the characters were. The Iliad is set sometime in the 11th or 12th century BC, about 400 years before Homer lived.
