BELGRADE - Serbian First Deputy PM and FM Ivica Dacic on Thursday dismissed as rubbish a statement by US official Hoyt Brian Yee that Serbia is "sitting on two chairs".

BELGRADE - The EU expects Serbia to make additional efforts to gradually align with the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy until the accession date, the head of the EU Delegation to Belgrade, Sem Fabrizi, told Tanjug on Wednesday.

A top U.S. State Department official on Wednesday urged Kosovo officials to ratify a border demarcation agreement with Montenegro, the last remaining criteria to be fulfilled before Kosovo can benefit from visa-free travel to the European Schengen zone.

Aleksandar Vucic will in the coming days communicate the answers he gave to US State Department official Hoyt Brian Yee's objections, made during their meeting.

This was announced in a statement on Tuesday evening.

The conversation between the Serbian president and the US diplomat, held in the early afternoon the same day, was "very open," the statement said.

Nobody should prevent Serbia from developing mutually beneficial and productive cooperation with Russia, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said.

The EU expects Serbia to make additional efforts to gradually align with the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy by the date of its accession.

The meeting on Tuesday between President Aleksandar Vucic and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Hoyt Brian Yee "could be summarized into two key points."

According to the Belgrade-based daily Vecernje Novosti, these points are: deep disagreement over the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, and continuing pressure on Serbia to abandon its close relations with Russia.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic received on Tuesday at the Palace of Serbia in New Belgrade US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Hoyt Brian Yee.

Earlier today, Yee met with Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, and Deputy Prime Minister Zoran Mihajlovic.

"Countries wishing to join the EU must very clearly demonstrate this desire. You can not sit on two chairs at the same time." This was said in Belgrade by US Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia Hoyt Brian Yee, reports bgnes.

The statement was made a day before his meeting with Serbian President Alexander Vucic.
