The chief prosecutor was without his family in the car in front of which an explosion occurred last Monday. This was confirmed by Ivan Geshev in an interview with the National Television and stated that he was in the car with National Security Service officers.

The co-chairman of "We Continue the Change" Kiril Petkov told "Darik Radio" that for him there are two hypotheses about the explosion of a bomb next to the car of the chief prosecutor Ivan Geshev. One is intimidation and the other is staging. The former prime minister specified that from his point of view, the case was staged.

"Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev was traveling alone in the armored car through the Yarema villa area with his assigned security guard from the National Security Service when an explosion occurred near his car. Members of his family did not accompany him", the Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Demerdzhiev announced during the parliamentary blitz control.

"The assassination attempt against Ivan Geshev is not staged, but hypotheses and conspiracies are spreading in the public space, which confuses the public". This was stated by the deputy director of the National Investigation Service, Yasen Todorov.

"Field work ends after the assassination attempt against Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev. From now on, we will work with the operational services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, security services and all international partner services".

The European Commission and the European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kovesi condemned the attempted assassination of Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev. The two institutions expect the Bulgarian authorities to take all necessary measures and investigate the case and bring the guilty to justice.

"There are suspects in the attempted assassination of the Prosecutor General". This was announced by acting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Demerdzhiev at a briefing in the Council of Ministers, where a meeting of Prime Minister Galab Donev with representatives of the security services was held. However, he refused to give details.

Authorities have described the blast, which happened as Geshev's vehicle was slowing down on a highway near the town of Samokov on Monday, as intended to kill the top prosecutor.

Geshev was travelling with his wife and children but no one in the car was injured.

At the time of the assassination attempt against the Prosecutor General, he was not traveling with his family, as was initially claimed, Nova TV reported.

The blast was aimed so that if the car's armor survived, the shock wave would move the car several meters to the side and it would fall into the ravine.

Although less than 24 hours have passed since the accident involving the motorcade of the chief prosecutor Ivan Geshev, the investigation into the case is at a very advanced stage. This was understood from a statement by the Deputy Director of the National Investigation Service, Yasen Todorov, to the National Television.
