Public health bosses get full term
Ljubljana – The acting director general and medical director of the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ), Branko Gabrovec and Ivan Eržen, have received full five-year terms by the institution’s governing council.

Golob says govt determined to help Prekmurje develop
Ljubljana – It is high time that after years of talk, Prekmurje region was helped make a development breakthrough, Prime Minister Robert Golob said in a message he wrote on the Day of Unification of Prekmurje Slovenians with the Homeland, which is celebrated on 17 August.
Serbia Extradites Vukovar Massacre Convict to Croatia
Ivica Husnik, who was convicted in Serbia of involvement in the killings of some 200 people at Ovcara Farm near Vukovar in November 1991, was extradited to Croatia on July 7 to serve his sentence for a different crime, Osijek County Court confirmed on Monday.
Bulgaria: Petrol and Diesel Prices are still Rising
The price of A95 gasoline at the main gas stations in Sofia reaches from BGN 3.35 (EUR 1.71) to BGN 3.43 (EUR 1.75) per liter, and diesel - from BGN 3.50 to BGN 3.58.
For comparison, about two weeks ago, the cheapest price for a liter of A95 gasoline was BGN 3.32, and for diesel - BGN 3.43.
Painter Elda Piščanec’s work on show at National Gallery

Financial Administration boss steps down
Ljubljana – Ivan Simič, the director general of the Tax Administration, stepped down on Wednesday, announcing his decision just minutes after the new government was sworn in. Simič, a staunch supporter of the Janez Janša government, was named to the post in acting capacity in May 2021 before getting a full five-year term in November the same year.

9 Countries, including Bulgaria, will ask for Help from the EU for the Refugees from Ukraine
The Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and the three Baltic states will seek financial assistance from the European Union for the care of Ukrainian refugees, according to a statement from Czech Deputy Prime Minister Ivan Bartoš.
Writer and politician Tavčar’s home to become medical and tourism centre
Visoko – The Visoko Manor, once home to Slovenian author, politician and Ljubljana mayor Ivan Tavčar (1851-1923), is being renovated with plans to set up a rehabilitation centre and secure tourist accommodation to revive the local economy and enable higher-quality tourist services in the region around the town of Škofja Loka, north-west.
