Artists Turn Bulgarian Village Into Open-air Gallery
Bulgarians may have only heard of New York's Museum of Modern Art, MoMA, but now they can see some the most iconic artworks there - without having to fly to the Big Apple.
They just have to come to the village of Staro Zhelezare, near Hisarya and Plovdiv in central Bulgaria, and stroll along its streets, which artists have turned into an open-air gallery.
Bulgarian Film was Selected for "Berlinale" for the First Time in 29 Years
The film "Aga" by director Milko Lazarov was selected in the main program of the 68th edition of the "Berlinale" cinema festival.
Aga is co-produced with the Bulgarian National Television and is the first Bulgarian film in the main official program of the Berlin Film Festival since 29 years after the film Ivan and Alexandra directed by Ivan Nichev.
Victoria and Alexander were the Most Preferred Names in Bulgaria for 2017
Victoria and Alexander are the most preferred names in 2017, according to NSI data, FOCUS reported. Among the popular male names are Georgi, Dimitar, Ivan and Nikola. Often the boys are named Martin, Daniel and Victor. In recent years the number of newborns with the names Boris, Kaloyan, Simeon, Asparuh has increased. The most common Muslim names in Boys and in 2017 are Emir and Mert.

According to preliminary figures of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) released on Tuesday, Georgi and Maria continued to be most common Bulgarian names in 2015.
At the end of 2015, there were nearly 69 000 different personal names of people permanently residing in Bulgaria.
