Some in SYRIZA unsettled by concessions in deal with lenders

The government on Monday sought to appear upbeat about the agreement it reached with the country's creditors over the weekend, and which was approved by eurozone finance ministers earlier in the day, but the atmosphere within leftist SYRIZA is tense as dozens of reforms must be legislated in the coming weeks, some of them contentious.

Dijsselbloem welcomes SLA agreement

Outgoing Eurogroup chief Jeroen Dijsselbloem has welcomed a staff-level agreement (SLA) between Greece's government and representatives of the country's creditor institutions reached on Saturday.

"It was quite exceptional," that the agreement was reached in time, said Dijsselbloem in Brussels ahead of his last eurogroup meeting. "Today we will discuss the following steps," he added.

Dijsselbloem wants review progress

Eurogroup chief Jeroen Dijsselbloem warned on Thursday that more needs to be done to wrap up the third bailout review by the end of the year. Addressing the European Parliament's Committee on Employment and Social Affairs, the Dutch official expressed optimism however that the deadline will be met.

Eurozone ready to do more to ease debt burden

Greece's bailout program is back on track and fellow eurozone members stand ready, if necessary, to do more to manage its debt burden if Athens does its part, Eurogroup Chairman Jeroen Dijsselbloem said on Monday.

"We have managed to help the debt burden, a lot has been done there. We stand ready, if they do their part, to do more if necessary," the Dutch official said.

Dijsselbloem to leave Dutch politics

Caretaker Dutch Finance Minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem will leave national politics when a new government takes office in approximately two weeks, a Dutch newspaper reported on Wednesday.

De Volkskrant newpaper, with historic ties to Dijsselbloem's Labor party, said it had viewed a letter the politician sent to the chairwoman of Dutch parliament.
