Olympic Games: Montenegro’s Kovinic First Opponent for Sakkari
In the first round of the Olympic Games, the Greek tennis player was drawn to play against Danka Kovinic, who is ranked No. 668 in the world. Kovinic has defeated Sakkari twice, in 2017 and 2018, but the Greek player had no trouble winning against her in 2022 on a clay surface.
Gauff loses out to Potapova power
American Coco Gauff was knocked out of the Miami Open on March 25 after an intense three-set battle with Anastasia Potapova while Indian Wells champion Elena Rybakina earned a hard-fought comeback win against Spain's Paula Badosa.

Romania's Begu advances to Indian Wells 125K singles quarter-finals
Romanian tennis player Irina Begu on Thursday progressed to the singles quarter-finals of the 162,480-USD Oracle Challenger Series Indian Wells after defeating Kristie Ahn (USA) 6-3 6-3. Begu, 29, world number 104 prevailed in one hour and 39 minutes, at her first encounter with 27-year-old Ahn, world number 89.
Tennis: Mihaela Buzarnescu to meet Simona Halep in second round of Wimbledon tournament
Romanian tennis players Simona Halep and Mihaela Buzarnescu will play against each other in the second round of the Wimbledon tournament, the 3rd Grand Slam of the year, after Buzarnescu defeated American Jessica Pegula, 6-4, 6-4, on Monday. Buzarnescu (31, WTA's 53) sealed her victory after 1 hour and 21 minutes of playing against the 25-year old American, WTA's 72.
Romania's Halep advances to 2nd round at Wimbledon
Romanian tennis player Simona Halep qualified on Monday for the second round of the Wimbledon tournament, the 3rd Grand Slam of the year, after defeating Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich, with a score of 6-4, 7-5. Halep (aged 27), WTA's 7th, managed to win after one hour and 41 minutes.
