Defense Minister Todor Tagarev and US Ambassador H.E. Kenneth Merten discussed bilateral cooperation in the field of defense, reports the Ministry of Defense.

"Bulgaria is a strategic partner of the United States of America". This is what the new American ambassador Kenneth Merten said during a business breakfast with the members of the American Chamber of Commerce in our country.

US President Joe Biden has nominated Kenneth Merten as new US ambassador to Bulgaria. This is stated in a statement by the White House.

Merten (b. 1961) is a career diplomat. Until recently, he was a Chargé d'Affaires at the US Embassy in Haiti. He previously served as Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Global Talent Management.

At the 21st ministerial meeting of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR) of the CARICOM Caribbean Community held in Nassau, Bahamas, Romania's Deputy Prime Minister Ana Birchall delivered the Romanian Government's strong support for the country's bid for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council.

Against a background of American disapproval, a major Russia-Croatia economic forum and investment conference started in the Russian capital on Tuesday, gathering 200 Russian and 100 Croatian companies.
