Showers and thunderstorms are expected today, Saturday, August 31, the third day of weather instability enhanced by the presence of a cold lake, the center of which is now located in the northeastern parts of our country.

Severe weather instability is expected to continue across much of the country on Saturday, August 31st. The National Weather Service has updated the Special Weather Circular, initially issued on August 29th, 2024, at noon.

Smoke from the fire that has been burning central Evia since noon Wednesday has made its presence felt across Attica.

Specifically, a photo posted on social media by IEPVA/EAA research director Dr. Kostas Lagovardos shows the smoke from Penteli.

Water drainage from houses, traffic disruptions and even fires caused by lightning were some of the problems caused by the 48-hour bad weather that hit the country.The weather subsided late in the afternoon and today summer will return with temperatures rising up to 35 degrees Celsius and local rains and sporadic thunderstorms in the northern and eastern Aegean.
