Portorož hosting WTA 250 tournament
Portorož – The Slovenian seaside resort of Portorož is hosting the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) circuit this week for a WTA 250 tournament with a prize money of 235,238 US dollars.
The tournament will open with a ceremony later on Monday followed by an all-Croatian match between Donna Vekić and Ana Konjuh.

Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, WTA No 3, on Thursday qualified for the quarterfinals of the WTA grass-court tournament taking place in Birmingham (UK), equipped with total prizes worth 665,900 US dollars, after defeating Klara Koukalova (Czech Republic), 6-1, 6-3, in only 50 minutes.

MONTERREY - Serbia's top female tennis player Ana Ivanovic advanced to the semifinals of the WTA tournament in Monterrey, Mexico, after beating Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic 6-3, 6-2 in the quarterfinals early Saturday morning CET.
Defending champion Ivanovic dominated the match from beginning to end, not giving the Frenchwoman any chance of a comeback.

PARIS – Serbia’s Novak Djokovic organized an exhibition match on the Roland Garros’ central court Saturday and the proceeds will be used as aid for the people badly hit by the recent floods in Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH).
It started raining on the center court at one moment but it did not stop the tennis players from continuing the humanitarian activity.
