Ivanovic through to Monterrey Open semifinals

MONTERREY - Serbia's top female tennis player Ana Ivanovic advanced to the semifinals of the WTA tournament in Monterrey, Mexico, after beating Frenchwoman Kristina Mladenovic 6-3, 6-2 in the quarterfinals early Saturday morning CET.

Defending champion Ivanovic dominated the match from beginning to end, not giving the Frenchwoman any chance of a comeback.

Ivanovic will next play another Frenchwoman, Caroline Garcia, who lead Slovakia's Magdalena Rybarikova 7-5 in the first set of their quarterfial match when Rybarikova retired.
