The highest ranking Bulgarian female tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova reached the quarterfinals of the San Antonio Open.
In a match from the second round, Pironkova defeated Lauren Davis from the USA with 6:3, 6:2.

Bulgarian tennis player Sesil Karatancheva goes on with her stable performance in the Miami Open tournament.
The second best in the Bulgarian ranking was off to a successful start Thursday, defeating US player Lauren Davis by 6:3, 7:6 (5). Karatancheva will be facing the ranked number 21 in the tournament Garbiñe Muguruza in the next round.
Jelena Jankovic through to Indian Wells third round
INDIAN WELLS - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic is through to the 3rd round of the Indian Wells WTA tournament after beating Lauren Davis of the United States 6-7 (5-7), 6-0, 6-4 early Sunday.
In the next round, Jankovic will face another American, Madison Keys, who defeated Klara Koukalova of the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-2.
Aleksandra Krunic exits in Melbourne
MELBOURNE - Serbia's Aleksandra Krunic has failed to reach the second round of the Australian Open after losing to Lauren Davis of the United States 6-1, 7-5 at the start of her campaign on Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, Jelena Jankovic also suffered a first-round defeat, joining compatriots Ana Ivanovic and Bojana Jovanovski.

Jelena Jankovic out of Australian Open as well
MELBOURNE - After Ana Ivanovic and Bojana Jovanovski, Jelena Jankovic is the latest Serbian player to be ousted from the Australian Open, as she lost to Switzerland's Timea Bacsinszky 6-1 6-4 on Tuesday.
Aleksandra Krunic is the only remaining Serbian player in the women's draw. She is scheduled to face Lauren Davis of the US in her first match at the tournament on Tuesday.

Jovana Jaksic candidate for 'Rising Star' exhibition event
BELGRADE - Serbian tennis player Jovana Jaksic is among the candidates for playing in a WTA Finals Rising Star Exhibition, which will take place in Singapore from October 17 to 21.
Four tennis players will take part in the exhibition event, which will be held simultaneously with the closing WTA championship, two from the Asia/Pacific zone and two from the rest of the world.
Ivanovic reaches Birmingham semifinal
BIRMINGHAM - Serbia's Ana Ivanovic reached the semifinal of the WTA tournament in Birmingham beating Czech Klara Koukalova in straight sets 6-1, 6-4 on Friday.
Top seed Ivanovic will next take on China's Shuai Zhang, who outlasted Sloane Stephens of the U.S. 6-3, 6-1.
The Serbian player leads the head-to-head with 1-0 after a 6-1, 6-1 victory in Toronto three years ago.

Ivanovic through to Birmingham quarterfinals

Top seed Ivanovic proved worthy of the role of favorite after defeating the young U.S. player, for the second time this season, in just 67 minutes.

BIRMINGHAM - Serbian tennis player Ana Ivanovic made a winning start at the WTA tournament in Birmingham, after defeating Mona Barthel of Germany 6-4, 6-1 in a second-round match on Tuesday.
Ivanovic has been seeded first for the tournament in Birmingham so she skipped the first round.

Jankovic gets off to winning start in Charleston
CHARLESTON - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic got off to a winning start at the WTA tennis tournament in Charleston by beating Lauren Davis of the United States 6-0, 6-3 early Thursday.
In the next round of the USD 710,000 tournament, Serbia's highest-ranked female tennis player will face Ajla Tomljanovic of Croatia, who beat Zhang Shuai 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3.
