Main opposition leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis has announced that former caretaker prime minister and ex-Council of State president Panagiotis Pikrammenos will head New Democracy's statewide ticket.

A 29-year-old, who had previously been arrested and several times for participation in riots – and even sentenced to two years in prison – is, according to the police, the man who sent a parcel-bomb to the German Finance Minister, Wolfgang Schäuble and to the former Greek Prime Minister Loukas Papademos on May.

The investigation into security lapses that led to former premier Loukas Papademos opening a letter bomb and sustaining serious injuries has been handed over to the body in charge of security at Greek Parliament, Kathimerini has learned.
