Münir Özkul

Three years have passed since the death of Münir Özkul, one of Turkey's most renowned actors who is best known for the poor, honorable, dignified and funny characters he has played since the 1950s.

Even after decades, Yeşilçam, also known as Turkey's "Hollywood," continues to draw people to watch its unforgettable old Turkish films, reminding an array of Turkish audiences of the legendary characters and scenes. 

Legendary Turkish actor Münir Özkul, who died on Jan. 5 at the age of 93, was laid to rest in Istanbul on Jan. 7.

Veteran actor Münir Özkul died on Jan. 5 at the age of 93. Özkul had been suffering from a respiratory disease and dementia since 2003 and had been treated in his home in Istanbul for a long time.

The Presidential Culture and Arts Grand Awards 2015 were handed out on Dec. 9 by President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an at a ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Ankara.
