Turkey and Sweden will hold their first meeting on Wednesday addressing a security pact the sides agreed to ensure Ankara's approval of Stockholm's NATO membership bid, a Turkish diplomatic source said on Tuesday.

Türkiye and Sweden will hold a key meeting to advance their security cooperation, especially against PKK's presence and activities on the latter's soil, in line with a bilateral agreement that allowed the Swedish admission into NATO.

Swedish state television SVT has announced that newly appointed Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard will make her first foreign trip to Türkiye on Sept. 18.

Tobias Billström's unexpected resignation last week prompted the reshuffle, which saw several key ministers reassigned. Stenergar previously served as migration minister.

The new European Union framework on migration agreed at ministerial level in Luxembourg last week would be binding for the bloc's member-states, but it would also give them a range of options on how they choose to participate in migrant relocations, Swedish Migration Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard, who chaired the June 8 meeting, tells Kathimerini.

The interior ministers of EU member states agreed on Thursday in Luxembourg on a common position to revamp the bloc's migration and asylum policy, although staunchly anti-migration countries Hungary and Poland voiced strong opposition.
