New era begins for Türkiye-US trade relations: TAİK head

The trade relations between Türkiye and the United States have entered a new era, says Mehmet Ali Yalçındağ, chairman of the Türkiye-U.S. Business Council (TAİK).

The positive developments in political relations in the past summer and the positive signals given for the period ahead bolstered expectations that the bilateral trade will accelerate, Yalçındağ said.

Annual inflation rate accelerates to 58.9 percent

Consumer prices rose more than expected in August, bringing the annual inflation rate from 47.8 percent in July to 58.9 percent, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).

"We are absolutely determined to fight inflation," Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek said after TÜİK released the data on Sept. 4.

Finance Minister Şimşek hails ‘boom’ in tourism

Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek has welcomed the latest tourism numbers, saying that tourism revenues will help reduce the current account deficit.

"Tourism is booming! Türkiye welcomes a remarkable 7.1 million foreign visitors in one month, marking the best July in history," Şimşek wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Togg delivers more than 2,000 cars

 

The number of Togg vehicles on Türkiye's roads has exceeded 2,000, Technology and Industry Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır has said.

Türkiye's first indigenous electric carmaker delivered more cars in the first half of August than it did in the whole of July, Kacır wrote on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
