Türkiye aims to attract at least 7 million tourists from Germany alone this year, when it hopes to welcome 60 million foriegn visitors, Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Ersoy has said.

United States authorities have returned $8 million of stolen antiquities, some of which were plundered as far back as the 1960s to Türkiye, a prosecutor said on Dec. 5.

Among the 41 pieces returned were two Heads of the Roman emperor Caracalla and the Bust of a Lady which were trafficked from Bubon, a Roman-era site in southwest Türkiye which was extensively looted in the 1960s.

Authorities are working on new regulations for short-term rentals, which business associations say are severely impacting hotels in Antalya, one of Türkiye's major tourist destinations.

The Supreme Election Board (YSK) has determined a total of 36 political parties as eligible to run in Türkiye's upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.

After President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, on March 10, signed a presidential decree declaring the election date as May 14, YSK convened to determine political parties that could run in the elections.

Turkish writer and psychologist Doğan Cüceloğlu on Feb. 16 was found dead at home in Istanbul's Beşiktaş district.

Cüceloğlu, 83, was well known in Turkey for his personal development books, over 40 published scientific articles, and numerous seminars and conferences.

Tourism Minister Mehmet Ersoy met with Ecumenical Patriarch Vartholomeos in Istanbul on Saturday and discussed issues affecting the Patriarchate, according to a press release from the Patriarchate.

Turkey donated armoured vehicles and equipment which will be used by Albanian rapid response teams, Anadolu Agency reports.

During a ceremony in Tirana, Turkey's Deputy Interior Minister Mehmet Ersoy said Ankara saw this as a brotherly gesture, not as a grant.

The newly founded tourism promotion agency will help Turkey to explore its potential and climb up higher in the rankings of the tourism league, the country's Tourism Minister Mehmet Ersoy said.
