Chery executive hints at investment in Türkiye

During a recent presentation, Chery International President Zhang Guibing has hinted at the possibility of establishing a manufacturing base in Türkiye, alongside plans for Spain and Italy, as part of the company's European expansion strategy.

The Chinese carmaker has been holding talks with high-level Turkish officials for some time.

Türkiye, Serbia enjoy 'golden age' in ties, Erdoğan says

Türkiye and Serbia are experiencing a "golden era" in bilateral relations, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Oct. 11.

"Our trade volume has exceeded $2 billion for two consecutive years. We continue to take joint steps with determination to reach our common goal of $5 billion," Erdoğan stated at a joint press conference with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

Environmental assessment process for BYD plant launched

The Environmental Impact Assessment process has been initiated for the factory to be built by Chinese carmaker BYD in the western province of Manisa.

In July, BYD, the world's largest electric vehicle producer, signed an agreement with the Turkish Industry and Technology Ministry to set up a factory and make R&D investments in Türkiye worth $1 billion.

Turkish minister highlights need for national tech following Lebanon pager blasts

Türkiye's Industry and Technology Minister, Mehmet Fatih Kacır, has underscored the critical need for advancing national technology, following a mass explosion of pagers in Lebanon, an incident that the Lebanese government attributes to Israel.

"It appears that Israel has detonated explosives simultaneously in thousands of devices in Lebanon," Kacır stated.

Employers ask gov’t to continue incentives

The business world has asked the government to continue incentives for the companies in Türkiye on employment and production.

A delegation of the Turkish Confederation of Employer Associations (TİSK), led by Özgür Burak Akkol, chairman of the board of the federation, presented the demands of the business community to Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz at a meeting on Aug. 14.

Türkiye ramping up efforts to become high-tech center

With a newly unveiled incentives program, Türkiye is doubling down on its efforts to turn the country into a center for high-tech products.

The $30 billion plan, dubbed High Technology Intensive Program (HIT-30), will provide supports to encourage investments in electric vehicles, batteries, chip production, R&D and solar and wind energy.
