South Korea's president Moon Jae-in's rating for the first time in the past four months exceeded 70 percent after his historic meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, Jonhap said after a sociological study.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan welcomed the historic Korea summit on April 27, saying he would talk to South Korean President Moon Jae-in about the issue on his May 2 visit. 

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will walk across the Demilitarized Zone on April 27 for a historic summit with the South’s President Moon Jae-in, the highest-level encounter yet in a whirlwind of nuclear diplomacy.

 The two Koreas opened a hotline between their leaders Friday, Seoul's presidential office said, a week before a summit between North Korea's Kim Jong Un and the South's President Moon Jae-in in the Demilitarized Zone, AFP reports.

SEOUL (AFP) - North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un discussed future talks with the US at a party meeting, state media reported on Tuesday (April 10), in his first official mention of dialogue with Washington ahead of a planned summit with President Donald Trump.

China has confirmed that the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, has visited Beijing, where he met the Chinese president, Xi Jinping, and pledged his commitment to denuclearising the Korean peninsula.

Confirming several reports over the last two days, Xinhua state news agency said Kim had been in China on an "unofficial visit" from Sunday to Wednesday.

South Korea’s President Moon Jae-in said yesteday sanctions on North Korea will not be eased for the sake of a summit with Pyongyang, but China’s state media warned nuclear North Korea will not be intimidated and that talks were the only solution.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in urged the United States to “lower the threshold for talks” with North Korea on Feb. 26 as his aides held rare talks with a Pyongyang general on ways to defuse tensions.

North Korea on Sunday accused the United States of trying to undermine an improvement in inter-Korean relations, while South Korean protesters tried to block senior North Korean officials on their way to the Pyeongchang Winter Games closing ceremony, Reuters reported.

The United States is due to announce its largest package of sanctions yet against North Korea to further pressure Pyongyang over its nuclear and missile program, as South Korea readies itself for more talks with the North's officials, reported Reuters.
