Gov’t determined in its fight against inflation: Minister

The government is determined to lower inflation permanently and is taking steps in that direction, Treasury and Finance Minister Nureddin Nebati has said.

He noted that the annual inflation rate came in at 61 percent in March, but inflation will ease to more reasonable levels toward the end of the year.

Turkish economic growth surges to 11 pct in 2021

The Turkish economy expanded 11 percent year on year in 2021 in line with market expectations, according to official data revealed on Feb. 28. 

"Gross domestic product at current prices increased by 42.8 percent and reached 7.2 trillion Turkish Liras [nearly $518 billion] in 2021 compared with the previous year," the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) said in a statement.

Finance minister holds meeting with exporters

Treasury and Finance Minister Nureddin Nebati on Feb. 21 met with delegations of Turkish exporters and automotive distributors.

"We have held an inclusive consultation meeting on our recent policies and actual topics, particularly Turkey Economy Model focused on investments, production, exports and employment," Nebati said in a tweet.

State lenders vow to provide loans to Turkey’s real sector

The top executives of the three Turkish state lenders - Ziraat, Halkbank and Vakıfbank - have pledged to grant loans to Turkish businesses in a bid to support economic development and increase prosperity.

General managers of Turkey's three state banks met with businesspeople in the northwestern province of Bursa on Feb. 3.

Finance minister meets with business world

Treasury and Finance Minister Nureddin Nebati has said he had a "fruitful" meeting with the representatives of the business world in Istanbul.

"We held a productive meeting today with our representatives from the business world, the real sector and [nongovernmental organizations] NGOs," Nebati wrote on his Twitter account on Dec. 11 after the meeting.
