Measures to tackle impact of cruises
Seeking to relieve popular island destinations such as Santorini, and possibly Mykonos, of the effects of overtourism, the government is planning new legislation that will increase the disembarkation fee for cruise ship passengers. According to a government official, the disembarkation fee cannot "cannot be lower than 10 euros for Santorini."

Santorini: Greece’s most “Instagrammable” island nears the brink of overcrowding, writes AFP
The French Press Agency (AFP) addresses the issue of overtourism on Santorini, Greece’s “Instagram island,” which has now reached a point of saturation.
“Green light for the investment plan of over 8 million for LAMDA’s Flisvos Marina
Flisvos Marina, managed by LAMDA Development and with an 8.16 million euro upgrade plan, is among the investment projects that have received the green light under the Ministry of Tourism’s approval decisions for Recovery Fund projects involving the upgrading of tourist ports.
Tourism’s sustainable development a priority
"The government is treating the sustainable development of Greek tourism as a major priority and targeted legislative initiatives that serve this strategy are necessary," Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni said to the competent committee of Parliament on Wednesday.

Greece to become ‘unique global tourism power,’ says minister
A new bill introduced to Parliament will bring the country closer to the dream of "establishing Greece as a global tourism power that is unique for its multifaceted tourism offer and the viable development of destinations and the tourism product," Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni told the Standing Committee on Production and Trade on Friday.
Policing in areas tourists frequent
Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni on Friday had a meeting with Citizen Protection Minister Michalis Chrisochoidis, in which she raised a number of issues relating to effective policing in areas frequented by tourists, especially Athens, and the handling of the greater numbers of visitors.
