K. Mitrovica court orders house arrest for Oliver Ivanovic

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - The international panel of judges of the Kosovska Mitrovica Basic Court on Wednesday ordered a house arrest for Civic Initiative SDP leader Oliver Ivanovic.

The Pristina Court of Appeals last week ordered a retrial in Ivanovic's case, throwing out a first-instance ruling sentencing him to nine years in prison for war crimes against civilians committed in 1999.

Gov't offers guarantees for Ivanovic, decision due Wednesday

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - The Basic Court in Kosovska Mitrovica will on Wednesday decide whether to keep Civic Initiative SDP leader Oliver Ivanovic in custody after the Serbian government reiterated guarantees of his availability to judicial authorities.

Ivanovic has spent over three years in custody since his arrest in January 2014.

Djuric: Oliver Ivanovic is "the last political prisoner in Europe"

Serbia is asking that Oliver Ivanovic is set free "instantly and completely," Office for Kosovo and Metohija Director Marko Djuric said on Wednesday.

In a statement for Tanjug, Djuric described the Serb politician from northern Kosovo as "the last political prisoner in Europe."
