Ivanovic's condition improves, remains unstable - doctors

Oliver Ivanovic's health condition has improved, but remains unstable, Milan Jakovljevic, a doctor at the Health Center in Kosovska Mitrovica, has said.

The Serb politician from northern Kosovo who heads the GI SDP party has been on a hunger strike for the past two weeks and was late on Thursday rushed to the hospital's intensive care unit for coronary disease patients.

Oliver Ivanovic's lawyer Nebojsa Vlajkovic has said that the health condition of his client is becoming "increasingly more serious."

The Serb politician from northern Kosovo, who heads Civil Initiative SDP, was taken to the hospital over the weekend where he continues his hunger strike, started on August 7.

Jailed Serb politician on hunger strike "deteriorates"

Civic Initiative SDP leader Oliver Ivanovic's condition has significantly deteriorated on the seventh day of his hunger strike in a Kosovska Mitrovica jail.

His wife Milena Ivanovic-Popovic who visited him on Thursday said he had lost seven kilograms, and that his physical condition has been "significantly deteriorating."

EULEX extends Ivanovic's detention until October

The detention of Civic Initiative SDP leader Oliver Ivanovic has been extended until October 6, said his wife Milena Popovic-Ivanovic.

She told Tanjug on Thursday that the decision was made by a panel of EULEX judges from the Municipal Court in Kosovska Mitrovica, and that the request filed by Ivanovic's lawyers to set him free pending the end of the trial was rejected as unfounded.
