Serbia to Hike Budget for Army and Police
Serbia's budget proposal for 2019 envisages a big increase in spending of about 40 per cent for the army and 13.5 per cent for the police.
In 2019, the government plans to allocate the Interior Ministry about 720 million euros, while the Defence Ministry will get about 792 million euros.

Petrovic: Salary, pension increase should not exceed 5 pct

BELGRADE - The Serbian parliament on Thursday re-elected Pavle Petrovic as president of the Fiscal Council on the proposal of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
Nikola Altiparmakov and Vladimir Vuckovic were also re-appointed to the Council.

Committee OKs new term for Fiscal Council president
BELGRADE - The parliamentary committee on finance, budget and control of public spending on Tuesday accepted Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic's proposal to re-appoint Pavle Petrovic as president of the Fiscal Council.
Pavle Petrovic put forward as Fiscal Council president
BELGRADE - Pursuant to the Budget System Law, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has put Pavle Petrovic forward to the parliament as president of the Fiscal Council.
With his strong, serious and constructive criticism, Petrovic has made a major contribution to the successful economic policy of the Serbian government over the past period, Vucic explained in the proposal.
Local governments' fiscal woes "threat to public finances"
Cities and municipalities in Serbia owe around a billion euros and are late in paying mature obligations of 300 million, - four percent of GDP.
Beta is reporting this, citing Fiscal Council chairman Pavle Petrovic, who spoke during a news conference in Belgrade on Tuesday.
Vucic: If I win, decision on new PM in April or May
PM Aleksandar Vucic says that if he wins the April 2 presidential election, the decision on the new PM would be made "in April or May."
"The deadline for the new president to take office is still far away, but if the Serb Progressive Party wins the presidential elections, the decision will be made in April or May," Vucic told TV Prva late on Wednesday, according to Tanjug.
Fiscal Council: Improvements present, but insufficient
The proposed 2017 budget bill brings improvements to public finances, but the opportunity to take a bigger stride towards a lasting recovery has been missed.
This is according to the Fiscal Council - an independent state institution that reports to the Serbian National Assembly.
