Pavlos Samios, who passed away so unexpectedly at the age of 73 earlier this month, was a man full of life. A man who was humble and kind. He never enjoyed talking about himself. He never had to. His career, his work, and most importantly his spirit, were testament enough.

In "Broken History," on show at the Byzantine and Christian Museum, painter and Athens School of Fine Arts professor Pavlos Samios explores how time affects history in a series of works on cardboard that juxtapose ancient art with street art, the past and the present. The show will open at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 15. Visiting hours are Wednesdays to Mondays from 8.30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The colors and design of the Parthenon frieze
The return of the Parthenon Marbles is an issue of international debate. Nevertheless, the sculptures themselves are always a source of pride and aesthetic enjoyment, not to mention research.
The reunification of the Parthenon Marbles with the monuments from which they were forcibly detached in the 19th century is something on which almost all Greeks agree.

Pavlos Samios | Athens | October 9 - November 8
Acclaimed Greek artist Pavlos Samios presents a series of paintings he did in 1992 while in Paris, in which he explored the then-novel trend of ecology and eco-friendly living. Running through November 8 at the Stoart Gallery, "Lovers of the Earth" opens at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9, and visiting hours are Mondays to Fridays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
