Curbing the flow of migrants into Europe will be the focus of a meeting held by the leaders of ten countries on Saturday.

Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos on Tuesday proposed Dragos Tudorache, the head of his chancellery, as the country's new interior minister with a brief to prepare for parliamentary elections which are scheduled to be held by the end of the year.

Hundreds of cars and goods vehicles waited for hours at Romania's checkpoints with Hungary over the weekend as the custom procedures slowed following Bucharest's decision to tighten border controls.

A ceremony was held on Friday to celebrate 20 years since the foundation of the Special Interventions and Actions Service (SIAS), the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police (IGPR) informed in a release to AGERPRES.
